Tide is the periodic change in sea level, mainly caused by the gravitational forces exerted Moon and the Sun Other phenomena can cause variations of sea level. One of the most important is the change in atmospheric pressure.

The atmospheric pressure varies between 990 and 1040 currently hectopascals and sometimes even more. A variation of the pressure of 1 hectopascal causes a variation of 1 cm from the ocean, so the variation in sea level due to atmospheric pressure is about 50 cm.

Some call these changes in barometric tides. Other occasional events, such as winds, rains, overflowing rivers and tsunamis cause the sea level variations, but can not be described as tides. (source wikipedia).
